W(o)W: The Garden Lady x Stephanie M. Elwood
The Garden Lady is here for all your landscape consultation and installation service needs. She offers garden workshops and assistance to community and school gardens. Stephanie (aka The Garden Lady) is a licensed Horticulturalist and received her Masters in Urban Forestry from Southern University. With over 10 years of growing experience, both ornamental and vegetable, she has creatively used her passion to serve her community in a positive way.
For Stephanie, “ 'purpose' means listening to what your higher power (however you may define it, him , her) wants you to do while you are here on this beautiful earth.” She can be found in the garden (hence the name “The Garden Lady”), dancing, cooking or enjoying the presence of her family including her 6 year old daughter and 9 month old baby boy.
As The Garden Lady, Stephanie appreciates the opportunity to share the pure joy that gardening brings the her own heart, mind and body with others, especially children eager to learn. She enjoys the “go with the flow” mentality that her hustle provides her with. To begin projects her heart finds important is a major reward of being a #bosslady and entrepreneur.
She openly expresses the struggles she faces as a woman in a male-dominated field of landscaping and agriculture. Stephanie shares how her capabilities, experience and knowledge are often underestimated and that, “it’s always a pleasure to prove them wrong” (okurr, show them how it’s done).
Women are powerful. Stephanie acknowledges that, “we [women] make the world turn and don’t even get the credit we deserve.” To the female entrepreneurs and those in the making, Stephanie lends advice to channel your ancestors and the truths of all the women who have gone before, remember their strength and #makethemproud.
One of Stephanie’s proudest accomplishments to date is owning her own business. She is grateful for the opportunity to create something that will benefit her family, something that will last through the generations. Looking ahead, she is excited about launching her cultivate training in Louisiana. Cultivate seminars will review cannabis propagation and cultivation, training for the cannabis industry, the current status of the cannabis industry in Louisiana, and where we want it to see it in the future (so cool!!).
