Copia: Hunger is the World’s Dumbest Problem x Komal Ahmad

Happy Earth Day!

Earth Day is special because it is celebrated around the world to honor the Earth where all of humanity lives! This day serves as a reminder and encouragement to support environmental protection and our beautiful Earth. It is also infamously known as the day fellow instagramers use as an excuse to flex their coolest photos with nature (lol, I may or my not be guilty).

Fun, funny, cute, actress, shalita grant, lol, memes, omg, wow

I found myself at 1am watching YouTube videos titled “What a Vegetarian Eats in a Day” because I am trying to go vegetarian while in quarantine (stick with me, I am not going to tell you to go vegetarian to save the Earth). Anyways, I ended up in the land of no return watching video after video about food and health. I eventually landed on the YouTube Video, “Food waste is the world’s dumbest problem,” which I highly recommend.

Featured in this video is the Founder and CEO of Copia, Komal Ahmad, a first-generation immigrant from Pakistan . Copia is a tech company, located in San Francisco, California and they have created a way to bridge the gap between a growing hunger problem and continuously wasted food. They partner with businesses and nonprofits, with the use of their app, to help transport unused food to those who need it. Both participants benefit, the businesses save money and the nonprofits receive needed food! (Brilliant!)

This non-profit is quite literally saving the world, and in more ways than one. Copia addresses a hunger crisis while simultaneously helping reduce the carbon footprint of businesses who use Copia to track their food waste. They can make more wallet and environment friendly purchases with the help of Copia. Copia helps people and the Earth at the same time! The story and logistics can be read from her interview with Kiplinger. Komal Ahmad was also featured as a part of the 30 under 30 from Forbes in 2019 (#bossstatus).
