Galentine’s Day: The Remix
Our iconic Galentine’s Day celebration is quickly approaching, but with the global pandemic still in action, we won’t be reuniting in pink and red just yet. Galentine’s Day was one of our last in-person PPG celebrations before the world went on lockdown, we went out with sass and spice. We wish we could drink champagne and sing along to our favorite songs with you this year, but we are going to have to wait a little bit longer, instead, we’re giving you Galentine’s Day the #remix. Cue Beyoncé and let’s get this party started!
Ask your #girlgang if they have the time for one more Zoom call, tell them it’s urgent. Galentines’s Day was introduced through mainstream media in 2010 on “Parks and Recreation” and has grown in popularity since then. Galentine’s Day is a tribute to girlfriends and the friendships that may get overshadowed by the romantic love traditionally highlighted on February 14th.
How to celebrate Galentine’s Day:
Good news, this year Galentine’s Day is on a Saturday, which means, yes, BRUNCH! You can make it a late brunch and still get your beauty sleep. Brunch is also the perfect excuse to drink champagne before noon.
Send a gift. With social distancing and the lingering pandemic, show you girls you love them by sending them a surprise gift in the mail or dropping it off to them. You can go for the traditional route of candy, flower or a card or go take a non-traditional route and give them something unique for them.
Treat yourself. Sometimes we are our own best friend, so show yourself some love. Buy yourself some of that new #PPG merch that you know you’ve been eying (yes, girl you need it). If not for yourself, do it for Stacey Abrams.
Watch a movie with the gals. We’re all thankful for the “share screen” option on Zoom (“cann everybody see my screen”). It’s time to grab the ice cream and your matching PJ set. Take a vote and watch a classic love film or defy the norms and watch an action movie if you’re feeling wild, it’s 2021 anything goes, right?
Make Galentine’s Day inspired cookies with the #gals via zoom. Prop the computer up at the optimal angle in the kitchen, taking into consideration the best lighting of course, and cook together from the mixing bowl to cookie decorating. Designate someone as the DJ, dance and cook some treats for you and your #sweets.
Watch the sunset and have a picnic. A picnic and sunset is the perfect way to stay social distanced and still enjoy one another’s presence. Pack some goodies, watch the sunset and have some undistracted gal chat with people you love.
Send appreciation letters. You can do this solo or with a group. Send (one of) your gals a short list of why you love them. This can be sent digitally and is a quick way to remind your gals, both near and far, that you’re thinking about them and love them.
Need to get moving? Grab your bikes or skates and hit the road. Work off your treats with a fun and laid back ride through town with your girls. (Recommendation: bring a speaker)
Galentine’s Day is so special to us because it is a day dedicated to celebrating the women who bring purpose and passion into our lives. Those women are you and we love you more than we love chocolate, that’s a lot of love!!
xoxo
