2o2o: Run it back!

Alright 2020, did we all think this was going to be our year? Yes. Did I gain “quarantine weight”? Confidential, my lawyer said not to answer any questions that make me uncomfortable. Did I stare at the ceiling questioning everything at least once a week since March? Possibly. Did I lose my understanding of days and the function of time? Debatable. Did TikTok become the center of my life? Again, I refuse to answer for personal reasons. Am I still alive? YES!

We are officially in the second half of 2020 and I cannot lie, THEY HAD US IN THE FIRST HALF. Here we are, still standing. This is not over and WE are not done.

As we move through a new month and the second half of 2020, a special reminder: we are in control of how we finish. There are no “do-overs” (sadly) and we can’t press a rewind button, however, we are in control of our “now”. The first week of August is coming to an end, but the month is just beginning.

Take this new month as a chance and an opportunity to begin again if needed. The past months have brought challenges, time for reflection, self-evaluation, and growth. Now, we respond.

A word of encouragement. . .

As we move forward, give yourself grace. These are uncertain times and everyone will react and change differently. We will grow healthily not by comparing ourselves to others but who we were yesterday and who we want to be tomorrow.

Don’t forget that it’s okay to have fun. Smile when you’re having a good day, laugh when you realize your neighbor just took out the trash in the same outfit they’ve worn all week (lowkey me). In these tense and troubling times it is easy to feel guilty when we are enjoying ourselves or others, but joy is what we need. The world is craving joy right now. So, if you find it in yourself during this time to be joyful, definitely share that with the world.

These past months have been isolating (literally) and can lead us to forget that we are all in this together. We are sharing experiences, changes, and emotions as a city, nation and world. You are not alone.

2o2o, press play.

xoxo
