W(o)W: Laura Siu-Nguyen x Laura Siu Planning & Events
Laura Siu-Nguyen, is full of ambition, resilience, and is a force to be reckoned with. This is clearly evident through her academic pursuits, community contributions, personal life, and her business Laura Siu Planning & Events. Laura Siu Planning & Events is a full service event and wedding planning company focused on providing pure enjoyment for their customers. Laura has been involved in event planning for three years, including the tasks of hosting large scale festivals that raIse over $10,000 dollars for charity (Wingamania, Capital City Mac Fest).
She graduated from the University of New Orleans with her Bachelors in Biology and continued to graduate with her Masters in Romance Languages in Spanish. She is a true hustler and is currently pursuing a Masters in Leadership and Human Resource Development at LSU (we stan an educated woman!). Beyond the world of academia, Laura is also a full time employee at New Schools for Baton Rouge and operates as their Communications and Brand Manager.
When she isn’t working or studying , you can find her running, most likely half marathons. One of her goals is to complete one half marathon in every state! This is not surprising given the fact that she loves to travel and also hopes to travel to South Korea and Japan! She has a gorgeous, almost 2 year old, Pembroke Welsh Corgi called Taco Corgnelius (so jealous). Spending time with family, binging Netflix shows, having outside picnics, watching movies, or reading a good book are all ways you can find Laura spending her time.
“My purpose in this world is to make a difference in someone's life, and to give back to the community that invests in their members.”
With Laura Siu Planning & Events, Laura is able to meet new people and help them bring their visions to life. She is appreciative of a platform that allows her to spread goodness and give it back to the community. She considers herself a “connector” and values this aspect her hustle offers her. Flexibility and the opportunity to give back to the community makes Laura’s hustle even more sweet and enjoyable.
Although there are many positives from the world of entrepreneurship, Laura is no stranger to challenges and endeavors. She views such trials as an opportunity to grow (*smash the retweet button). She believes, “challenges helps define who we are and how we react to future adversity.” Part of her mindset toward such obstacles is based on the common ideology that it’s not what happens but how you react (oof, that’s truth!).
Simple but also overwhelmingly important, Laura encourages other women, don’t give up and keep going. Laura shares how she’s been in business for two years and it took a long time for her to arrive where she is today. She reminds us that, “a no today doesn’t mean a no tomorrow.”
To date, Laura is grateful for her critical role pertaining to events that raise money for charities and the ability to give back weekly to the community through her running. Looking ahead, Laura aims to have the resources that will allow her to give out scholarships to high school students so that they can pursue their dreams.
