Poetry Feature: Cleo Wade
Our last poet feature of April (National Poetry Month) is Cleo Wade (the title might have given it away). If you haven’t read any of Cleo’s work before, I have three words. You. Need. To. I am bias, as one of her #1 fans, I fell in love with the first poem I read by Cleo and I know everyone needs this woman and her work in their life!
Cleo is a poet and an artist, she is an encourager and living embodiment of what it means to love through literature. After reading her work you will feel as if you just had a much needed therapy session with your wisest and most genuine friend. She is the author of Heart Talk: Poetic Wisdom for a Better Life (2017) and Where to Begin: A Small Book About Your Power to Create Big Change in Our Crazy World (2019).
Imperfect and loving it.
-Cleo Wade
The New York Times published an article about Cleo titled, “Cleo Wade is Everybody’s BFF” (So true!). There is no lack of content for Cleo Wade, The Cut covered a story on her as well, and she opened up about her inspiration, connection, and purpose concerning her poetry. Cleo also delivered a Ted Talk, “Want to still change the world? Start by being brave enough to care.”
Her work usually focuses on self-love, feminist empowerment, encouragement, support, and affirmations. She is involved in many activism focused movements and nonprofits. She was a finalist at the 10th annual Shorty Awards for literature, placed on the 2017 list for Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company and the New York Magazine referenced her to be “the Millennial Oprah.”
