Happy Mother’s Day!
Mother’s Day is a time for celebration. Generations of women— mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, and all motherly figures— have sacrificed their time, energy and well-being for us. We hope you had a great Mother’s Day and were able to celebrate the women in your life!
At PPG, we celebrate women every day, and Mother’s Day is no different. We’re celebrating the mothers in our community and shining a light on the strong women who took on this incredible challenge by sharing some good reads with you a day after moms day.
To shine a spotlight on mothers, we picked a few articles that showcase what it means to be a mom and all the pressures that come along with it.
This article is featured on Mommifaceted, a platform for black mothers to discuss their experiences. Their blog features podcast episodes that range from the business of motherhood to having a kid crisis to maintaining a life outside of being a mom. Check it out!
Sarah Dubbeldam from Darling Magazine defines motherhood in her article The Healing Power of Mothering. “A mother isn’t meant to be perfect; a mother is simply a safe place and a person who sees, addresses concern, guides, cherishes and cultivates. It is through showing compassion and care to ourselves that we are able to turn around and give the same to other women.” We heal each other and connect through generations of women.
We hope these articles have opened the eyes of people who are not currently mothers to see all they endure and the hard work they do to shape their children into who they are today. Even though Mother’s Day is over, take some time to thank the mothers—and all women— in your life more often! They deserve it!
