Hey hustlers!

It’s Bri! I’m back and better than ever!! I missed all of you this summer. Sadly, I had little to no access to wifi from May to August since I was working at Camp Eagle in the Texas Hill Country (the break from technology was highly needed and appreciated). I was a camp counselor for the Teen Camp division at Camp Eagle. This role gave me the opportunity to encourage, support, and lead girls (and sometimes boys) from 7th grade to 12th grade. This is an experience I will never forget. It was made of highs and lows, challenges and successes, but most importantly, love.

A typical day at camp for me would begin at 6:45am and end as late as 11:00pm or later depending on the activities. I led and helped with activities such as the sherpa (walking on the side of a cliff), zip lines, hikes, rappelling, mountain biking and more. Hiking and walking was our main form of transportation, everyday was leg day!

The fourth week of camp I broke my right foot, which was awful. With the help of the other counselors and program heads, I was able to persevere and stay at camp the entire summer. I had to take trips to San Antonio (two hours away from camp) every two weeks for doctor appointments. Thankfully one of my camp best friends, Hannah, kept me company on my road trips. I was in a boot for most of the summer (eight weeks to be exact), but reflecting back I don’t think I would have changed anything if I could go back in time. Between you and I, the main reason I didn’t go home after breaking my foot is because I was to lazy to pack up all my belongings.

The experiences I had this summer as a camp counselor reminded me of one of my greatest passions, helping women, especially those younger than me, while encouraging and supporting them. I learned this summer that, as cliche as it sounds, you cannot judge a book by its cover. We are all dynamic and complicated human beings who need love, support, and understanding.

I encourage you to use your time and resources the best way you can in order to serve your fellow women. I am not saying go to camp (although that’s a fabulous idea), but I am saying look around and see where you can help other women in your life using your skills and talents. I am looking forward to continuing this journey with the PPG squad. I am thrilled to be back and surrounded by my fellow hustlers. Cheers to the best year yet! Hustle baby, hustle.
