Bridget Joubert Tate x Capital City Lighting
Bridget Joubert Tate is a dedicated momma, friend and Lighting Stylist that provides creative, curated, lighting design. She is on the Capital City Lighting team, and they are devoted to serve the lighting needs of Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas. They work with builders, homeowners, business owners and architects in order to curate a lighting package that is aesthetically pleasing and functional.
For 13 years Bridget was a stay-at-home Mom. She has always had a love for fashion and design. She found her niche in lighting after taking a part-time job at a local Lighting Boutique. After a 5 1/2 year journey of gaining a network of dedicated clientele, working on award winning design projects, and gaining faith in herself, she went out on her own and started Capital City Lighting with her business partner Toby Courville!
Bridget was born in Ville Platte, LA, and raised in Acadiana. She has over 70 first cousins and is the middle child of her family. When she was 14 she moved to Baton Rouge and recalls being made fun of because of her thick cajun accent. She was determined to lose her accent, but now she wants to, “scream from the rooftops that I’ve got some flavor.” She remains proud of her family and her cajun heritage.
About 23 years ago Bridget met her husband at McKinley High School. They both continued their education at LSU, during this time in college they also got married. They have four children, Garret, James David, Rosie, and Thomas. Bridget loves spending time with them, their house is never boring and they always keep her laughing.
If she’s not lighting up the city, you can find Bridget with her family, spending time with the kids or biking with her husband. She also enjoys meeting her friends for cocktails (amen), dancing in the streets during Mardi Gras or taking some personal time and watching a movie. You could even find her creating and sharing on her lighting blog. If you were to ask her the one item she loves the most in her closet the answer would most likely be earrings, she considers them the final touch to any outfit and believes, similarly, lighting is, “the jewelry of your home.”
She is also a member of the Baton Rouge Prancing Babycakes, an organization that is made of, “badass, supportive, independent women.” This is who Bridget credits with giving her the confidence to go out on her own and start Capital City Lighting. She shares that, “having 30 bffs who genuinely support you is life changing.”
Bridget faces challenges head on and considers herself a thinker. She finds joy in figuring something out and brainstorming unconventional ways to solve a problem. She appreciates collaborating and isn’t afraid to ask for help. She advises other entrepreneurs to grow their circle. She shares how this can be done in many ways including, social media, networking or joining relevant associations. She encourages others to , “treat people like you would a family member in your business dealings and that will take you far.” She shares how this will show integrity and gives the reminder that people can become your most vocal supporters.
Bridget appreciates being able to be responsible for her success. She doesn’t have to depend on anyone to reach her goals and create what she envisions. Even though she works most of the time, being able to create her own schedule is also helpful. She stands proud of the leap she made to leave a financially stable job and start her own business, which has become a success.

Working on new projects and being able to see the end result is something Bridget is grateful to be able to do with her work. She also loves meeting new people, getting to know them, and creating and end product they will love. Moving forward, Bridget would love a location in Mid City sometime in the next 5 years.
Purpose is the reason someone or something exists.
Bridget is open to her purpose and if or when it morphs and goes through changes. She lives genuinely and authentically so that she can exist in her purpose. Every day she lists 6 intentions at the beginning of the day and 6 things she is grateful for at the end, which can help keep one aligned with their purpose and life.
Bridget’s purpose affirmations:
“I exist to support others and encourage them to shine. I exist to raise my children and teach them to be decent people. I exist to be a good friend. I exist to show my daughter how to be an independent woman in this world and to teach my sons that women are strong and capable. I exist to support other women in business. I exist to treat my clients with integrity and light up lives and homes.”
