Who's in your circle?

“SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE THAT WANT MORE OUT OF LIFE. THAT WON’T SETTLE FOR AVERAGE. PEOPLE THAT YOU CAN CONNECT WITH ON A DEEPER LEVEL. KEEP YOUR CIRCLE FRE$H. KEEP YOUR CIRCLE FULL OF QUALITY RATHER THAN QUANTITY. FULL OF COOL A$$ HUMANS THAT YOU CAN BE YOURSELF AROUND. PEOPLE THAT FILL YOU UP WITH NOTHING BUT LOVE. PEOPLE THAT WANT TO SEE YOU SUCCEED. PEOPLE THAT GET IT. GOOD CIRCLE, GOOD LIFE!”
― GENEREUX PHILIP

Who are you surrounding yourself with?

Sit back and think. Who are you letting pour into your life, and are they uplifting or tearing you down? Sometimes we are distracted in our friendships or relationships and forget to evaluate how they are shaping us. Evaluate your relationships and reflect on the impact they have on you physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.

According to the Mayo Clinic, there are some distinct and helpful affects of friendships and/or relationships. They can increase your sense of belonging and purpose, boost your happiness, reduce your stress, improve your self-confidence and self-worth, help you cope with traumas, and encourage you to change or avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits. Does this describe your relationships?

The main thing to remember in friendships and relationships is that they should be two-way streets, otherwise one street (one person) will end up being worn out and overwhelmed. We all need to spread the love.

Take spring cleaning a step farther this year. Evaluate and address changes that need to be made. I am not saying to cut off every single person because of minor flaws, we all fail at one time or another. Although, maybe some relationships shouldn’t be carried any longer or maybe some need to be addressed (remember communication is key)! We need to support one another and our inner circle, our squad, our crew, should not be holding us back from reaching our full potential.

According to Urban Dictionary (my favorite dictionary), a friend is someone you love and who loves you, someone you respect and who respects you, someone whom you trust and who trusts you. A friend is honest and makes you want to be honest, too. A friend is loyal. Urban Dictionary is spitting fire once again. Be a friend, and surround yourself with true friends. You will see a difference in yourself, a positive difference, when you surround yourself with the right people.

Here at PPG we seek to encourage, elevate, and empower. We encourage you to do the same, to live this out in your relationships and friendships because big change starts small. Be the change. In the words of Jo, keep your circle “fre$h.”
